Members' Area

We would like to extend a personal invitation to you to become a member of Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club Limited. The name of the Club is often shortened to DMTC. The club has had an exciting history of involvement in Irish motorcycle sport & touring. Members were involved in setting up the first MCUI-approved Ladies Race at Mondello Park, and members continue to compete in & support the Road-Race, Short-Circuit & Enduro Irish championships. Early members were involved in Fingal MCC for their racing activities and formed DMTC as a 'high mileage' Touring club for R+R in 1971.

Touring Events

The Club organised their first Riders Rally (point-to-point rally) on the August Holiday weekend in 1973 and the first 'End of Season' Way West Rally in Easkey, Co Sligo in 1974. These formal events are open to all, monthly events such as runs, meets, weekends are held for members. In 1978 10 Members attended the FIM Rally in Valkenberg, Holland, starting a virtual unbroken link to the present. In 1992 the club hosted the FIM Motocamp in Killarney with 280 participants. In 2001 on our 30th anniversary the DMTC organised the prestigious "56th FIM Rally" in Killarney, Co Kerry for 1,750 visiting motorcyclists with the help of 150 volunteers.

Ethos

DMTC is a members' club and based upon the mutual sharing of individual ideas, talents, concepts and experiences, the knowledge and enjoyment of our sport substantially increases through participation. We are proud to have members living in many places in Ireland and across the waters. Nobody owns the club, but members' liability is limited to €2.00 each

Structure

1) DMTC is a 'Company Limited by Guarantee and without share capital'

2) The club is managed for the members by a Committee of six members (Chairman, Treasurer, Club Secretary, Communications and 2 Event Coordinators) elected by club members in elections at the Annual General Meeting

3) All Committee Members shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting by a majority of members eligible to vote

4) At least three members of the Committee must be Directors of the Company to comply with Irish Company Law

5) The two longest serving members retire every three years but shall be eligible for re-election. Where a member retires before completing a 3-year term, an election to fill the vacancy will take precedence. In years where there are two or more early retirements, no committee members will retire by rotation

6) The Committee shall appoint a Membership Secretary, a Children's' Officer, a Company Secretary, a Webmaster and a Route-meister to assist with organising the Riders Rally. Non Committee Posts are subject to decisions by the Committee. Non Committee post-holders may attend Committee meetings but may not vote at those meetings. Non Committee Posts are not subject to election

7) This committee, representative of the general membership, operate according to the M&A and Irish corporate by-laws. All club activities are arranged for and on behalf of Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club Limited. Any & all profits are retained by the club to promote motorcycling.

The Memorandum & Articles of Association are available from the Company Secretary

Guidelines for Annual General Meetings

a) Two weeks notice of an Annual General Meeting and three weeks notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting (when resolutions asking for changes to the Memo and A&A are voted on) must be given to members. Therefore notice of the AGM, together with a notice of forthcoming committee retirements and a request for nominations and resolution, must be sent to the members six weeks before the due date.

b) No member shall be eligible for election to the Committee unless he/she has completed 6 months membership

b) Nominations to the Committee by qualified members must be proposed and seconded in writing by two qualified members and agreed by the nominee

ADVANTAGES IN BECOMING A MEMBER OF DMTC

a) Every application for membership shall be nominated and seconded by two members

b) The general committee shall elect persons to membership of the Club and shall have power to refuse to elect persons to membership without assigning any reason

c) No rejected applications shall be nominated again until the expiration of one year from his rejection

d) In the year of joining members must sign the application form and return to the Membership Secretary with evidence of payment. This is a legal safeguard for all. Membership shall be deemed to commence on the payment by the applicant of his/her annual subscription and thereafter the applicant will be issued with a membership card.

e) You will receive on joining and on yearly renewal, an attractive membership card to readily identify your club affiliation.

f) You receive on joining a DMTC 'peel-n-stick' sticker or other unique items.

g) You will be notified by email, text or post, or by other means, of the club-organised events (Monthly Runs, Weekends, Ride-outs, Rides to FIM Classic Rallies in Europe or if a member organises something for Club Members). The highlights of every year's activities are the Riders Rally in August and the Way West Rally in November on the Irish west coast. DMTC is proud of these events and considers participation critical to the enthusiasm of the entire membership. Other events include monthly motorcycle runs and runs to other Irish events, occasional forays to Scotland & FIM Touring gatherings such as the FIM Rally and the FIM Motocamp.
