DMTC Masthead 2005

About US
Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club  (DMTC) is probably the largest multi-make motorcycle touring club in Ireland Every year DMTC organise members' events, foreign trips and two touring rallies: the "Riders Rally" (600 miles of riding) in early-August and the "Way West Rally" near the Irish Atlantic coast in mid-November. The FIM Rally 2001 in Killarney was the biggest event organised with a lot of help from our friends.
Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club is a company limited by guarantee and without a share capital. Sporting clubs in Ireland use this form of legal entity to limit the liability of each member to a nominal committment (Euro2) in the sad event of a legal challenge. Events must be authorised by decision of the Company Directors ( aka Club Committee) and managed by appointed event organisers who act as agents of Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club Limited - Company Registration Number 267623.

MNO Web Com own this web site, but only in a technical sense. The site really belongs to the riders who have volunteered their talents, resources & time to help other riders enjoy motorcycling to a greater extent. The site is shaped daily by the Webmaster and the Club's Committee, elected by the Members. Best wishes as you continue riding and meeting other riders who enjoy motorcycle sport touring. If you are motorcycling in Ireland, look out for us!

Ireland, an island on the edge of Europe, offers year-round motorcycling on great roads through a wind- and water-swept land-scape with 10,000 years of history from the last Ice Age to our city Dublin's new Millenium Spire; dolmens, hilltop graves, lonely beaches, organic foods and a fantastic choice of hotels, castles, hovels and camping parks at which to stay.

All vehicle travel to Ireland is by sea ferry. At peak-time there are over 40 sailings each day between Ireland, France and Britain, but the direct routes to/from France need to be reserved in advance to guarantee space, as limited numbers of motor-cycles are carried on the thrice-weekly Irish Ferry sailings and Celtic Link RoRo sailings and weekly Brittany Ferries . Ireland Map
There's over 34 years of history in DMTC. The decision has been made to get much as possible documented on film, on paper and on digital so we can share. Anything of record - badges, paper, photos that you have, please tell Owen, Hazel or me. DMTC has a digital camera that will take a image so we don't loose a memory! Images stored on CDs and on the club laptop can go to make up archive records on the web. Owen + GTS
Motorcycle Action Group Ireland is the lobby group for Irish street motorcyclists. They protect your Right to Ride. A voluntary group with dedicated people and several thousand members. Check out their website.

A FIM Campsite

Preliminary details for the 61st FIM Rally to be held in Berlin, Germany during 20-23 July 2006. For starters check out the Sea ferries guide. The Organisers Web page will be updated regularly as information comes to hand. There will be an MCUI and DMTC presence but until the entry information is released in January 2006, our plans are flexible.

Baltic region The recent trip to the FIM Rally in Estonia opened all sorts of long-distance trips. Over 50 guys took various trips around Poland and the Baltic states, some even getting to Russia. From a Dutch or Belgian port, Berlin is only 8 hours/800 kms ride on a direct autobahn leaving plenty of time for site-seeing.

Poland is only a few miles east of Berlin, the Berlin Riviera and the rocket sites of Peenemunde only a few hours north on the Baltic. The Baltic States (except for Kaliningrad) and Central Europe visa free. To visit Russia, Kaliningrad or Belarus will require visas (Cost approx €80 each).
