40 Years On The Road 1971 - 2011The 37th Riders Rally - 29th July to 1st August 2011
The Riders Rally is a 3-day point-to-point navigational rally, in which riders (participants) cover about 1,000K in total between checkpoints. First checkpoint opens at 4pm Friday and second point, within 150K, is an overnight with camping and B&Bs. Riders can start Saturday morning from 8am to 10am, they just face a longer route to the Saturday overnight. The route ends on Sunday afternoon with awards, badges, etc.
It is a camping rally; however we accept that some participants travel light and want to stay in hotels. Therefore we locate overnights where campsite and hotel are beside one another. We book about 40 B&B bed spaces (not rooms) at each of the three overnight stops during the event. These will be comfortable hotels with bars & food. Be advised that this year the Saturday Overnight is in Northern Ireland. The campsite is on a sports club beside a hotel. The evening meal available in the Sports Club must be pre booked either on Sign In or on the Accommodation form - cost Stg£15/Euro18. Riders will need to carry local currency to pay for petrol and other expenses.

Between Mullingar and Edgeworthstown on the N4 road. Sign-on Friday July 29th @ 4pm-9pm or Saturday July 30st @ 8am-10am

For B&B Accommodation - Applications for Pre-Book B&B are now closed and Riders must sort out their own or hope for last-minute cancellations. For info please contact Hazel. Most rooms are twin-bedded or doubles - there are no singles!
Cost to enter for 1 Rider camping and self-catering is €40 (pillion €20); 1 Rider, 1 motorcycle and 3 hotel B&Bs sharing costs from €180- with Interesting Routes, Badge, Fun & Friendship as part of your entry. Your petrol, beer and snacks, lunch and dinners are extra – exceptionally good value in these troubled times!The 2011 Rally is designed by our hard-working sub-committee - Tony Doran, Mick Whyte, Owen Treacy, Kay Dowling, Hazel Casey and the club committee
"The aim is not to cover mileage for the sake of mileage, since the pleasure is as much in the journey as the destination". This rally allows diversions to collect Photo Rally subjects if time is not your problem!
