Based in the foothills of the Low Tatra Mountains in northern Slovakia, the venue is in a very historical area open to the mountains and forests in a pleasant part of Europe. In winter near ski resorts and in summer hiking and small farms. Its a good ride from Ireland. Using either the fast seamless network of motorways in Britain, France or Holland, Germany and Austria to Bratislavia, and up into the Tatras. Or going straight across Germany into the Czech Republic, past Prague and entering the Tatras early, using minor roads crossing to Donovaly. Allow 3-4 days each way and 4-5 nights at the rally site. Check the rally website for event and venue information and a Google map to plan your approach.
Motocamp are a relaxed way to see part of a country with low cost and usually low stress. I've attended 5 and helped DMTC organise the MCUI Motocamp in Killarney in 1992. John McClintock has been a regular attendee over the years. Almost all participants camp. Camping in your own tent on the first three nights (25, 26 & 27) of the event is included in the entry fee. Also included in the entry fee is dinner on 25th, breakfast, lunch & dinner on 26th and 27th with breakfast on departure day 28th.
The Organiser's fee is 120 € plus a €5 per bike administrative expenses added by DMTC to handle entries. The FIM Motocamp is free of charge for children under 8 years old. Children between 8 and 12 years benefit from a discount of 50%. The entry fee must be paid in full by MCUI club participants to Dave Gibson, c/o DMTC Ltd before 6th to allow time to forward entries & fees to the Organiser by deadline. Every participant who has paid the fee receives the following minimal benefits:
• Participation in the 2010 FIM Motocamp
• Accommodation on a camping site for the duration of the event
• Good quality food and in sufficient quantity - 1st day: dinner - 2nd day: breakfast, lunch, dinner - 3rd day: breakfast, lunch, dinner - last day: breakfast
• A souvenir medal/plaque or pins
• Other souvenirs left to the choice of the organiser, but easy to transport on a motorcycle
Tent camping is compulsory. The organiser provides tent camping accommodation on a campsite for the participants throughout the duration of the Motocamp. (NB. Non campers will not be classified). The campsite bookings will be made on the 'accommodation and Optional Excursion' booking form. The amounts due for the additional accommodation will be paid at the same time as the entry fee – i.e. before 6th June 2010. The price of the additional accommodation (before 25.8.2010) is €15.00 per person per night on the campsite (including breakfast).
